2K Games has secured a seasoned producer from the creators of Apex Legends to lead the studio crew at 31st Union, which is currently working on the anticipated third-person action-packed title known as Project Ethos.
Management Shift Comes After Lukewarm Response
The new appointee takes on the leadership position at the development studio following the exit of previous head Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to Project Ethos' disappointing unveiling last fall.
On Wednesday, 2K president a key figure updated staff about this decision through an official communication, which highlighted that early feedback sessions had indicated the requirement for a clearer vision.
The president noted that the team is now overhauling Project Ethos with a renewed vision, aiming to address community desires.
Trend of Strategic Hires
This announcement echoes a similar action taken by 2K Games in August, when they recruited an industry veteran from Blizzard to work on the beloved franchise studio Cloud Chamber.
Here is the complete message from Ismailer's communication:
Dear Team—
I understand you all just wrapped up your meeting - I trust you’re as enthusiastic as I am with the recent updates. Last time I shared you all a note, I stated the following: “I am confident in this group. You all are some of the most motivated and talented developers we have had the chance to partner with - and we’re eager for that collaboration to endure.”
Given your hard work and adaptability, particularly over the last year, you consistently demonstrate that.
The community feedback from last autumn’s the game demo was informative. It affirmed the potential of a action-packed game but made clear we still had improvements to make. It revealed the necessity for a clearer vision.
The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve come. You took the criticism to heart and overhauled the title with a refreshed vision - one that’s poised to fulfill its potential to our players.
The belief in this project grows every day. To advance the remarkable advancement you’ve made, I am thrilled to introduce the new hire as the new Lead of 31st Union. Following some time of talks, Ben starts with us on Monday, October 20.
Ben’s guidance and experience in the competitive gaming field is extensive, having spent the recent years creating and leading some of the most well-known series in the industry, including the acclaimed shooter, and lately, Apex Legends.
Let’s together in welcoming Ben soon. We are all excited to persist witnessing the progress of the game in the time to come.
David

Game Details and Vision

"Create your ideal gameplay session—or face defeat—in this engaging over-the-shoulder adventure! Customize your character in real-time to fit your unique tactics," the description reads. "Face the competition with unique powers, challenges, and challenges that shift every match. Will you leave securely with your collected items? Or go big, gamble everything, and hope your team can earn top ranking? The option is yours."
The game has not yet received an confirmed release date or platforms, but players can expect additional details as creation progresses.
