Major Russian Strikes Disrupt Electricity In Ukraine's Capital

Energy infrastructure targeted in the region
The country's power facilities have come under escalating attacks in the past few days

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were wounded while residents in eastern neighborhoods were left without electricity and faced disruption to water supplies, per reports from municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a distinct assault in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southeastern part, according to local officials.

Moscow has increased strikes on power infrastructure over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "concrete actions" from partner nations to exert influence on Moscow.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the America, Europe and the major economies - in providing defensive weapons and implementing penalties," he wrote in a social media post.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty rockets attacked the country's power systems, labeling such attacks as "premeditated" and against "critical infrastructure" as winter approaches.

Energy officials said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were laboring to restore power.

A series of attacks hit electrical systems and civilian homes in the capital.

Several of the people hurt in the strikes on the city have been taken to hospital, per statements from city authorities.

Area administrators said the city endured significant strikes throughout the evening. A young boy died and three other people were hurt.

The assaults follow evenings of bombing campaigns in the area, parts of which remain under the control of Moscow's military.

All of Ukraine is under warning for hypersonic Kinzhal missile strikes, which are more difficult to identify.

Authorities told the media that Russia was deliberately attempting to damage the national power system, with strikes already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

Officials stated energy workers and officials were anticipating further attacks.
