Approximately 50 cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by police.
Automobiles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man discovered that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Police then found numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state initial examinations indicate the liquid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to its source; investigators are presently not aware of any injuries in relation with the incident," they stated.
Local authorities stated they were working "to unravel the incident" and have requested to the public for tips.
A senior representative said the incident left him stunned and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right violent incident in 2020," he wrote on a platform, recalling the murder of nine individuals by a shooter targeting individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
